Tom Sanchez’s Fort Worth family ties span a century. He is a licensing attorney in the field of mobile phone technology. His entry into mobile radio technology was in the US Marine Corps as a field radio operator from 1973-1976. Tom graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University in 1979.
Tom worked at Rockwell Space Systems on the Space Shuttle program and at IIT Research after college. In 1981, he joined Motorola’s Communications Sector where he was employed as an R&D engineer developing transmitters for portable and mobile radio products. During his tenure there he earned his Juris Doctorate at Chicago Kent College of Law. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1990.Tom joined Research In Motion (Blackberry) in 2001 as Vice-President of Licensing and Standards. During most of the decade Tom served on the Boards of the Irving Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. He has coached youth soccer and volunteered in the Irving schools. All of these experiences helped define his priorities and shape his worldview.
